Nothing quite escapes the magic of your very first Disney trip. The thrill as you walk down Main Street for the very first time. The magic as you experience each attraction for the first time. The pure joy and excitement at being in the happiest place on Earth. As we prepare for our move, we think back to our first Disney trip, which really was the basis for our desire to move closer to Walt Disney World. We wanted to share some of our favorite pictures from our first magical experience in the World.

Our first trip was in 1977 when the only park was the MK and the only resorts were Fort Wilderness, the Contemporary and the Polynesian. Tickets for the rides at the MK were “graded” A-E which is where the expression “E ticket ride” came from.
I remember being blown away by the campsites at Fort Wilderness (we were tent campers). The bathrooms and laundry rooms were tiled and air conditioned! This was at a time when other campgrounds’ bathroom and laundry facilities were primitive and definitely not air conditioned!! The nightly fee was $15 which was about 3X what other campgrounds were charging, but it was definitely worth it! THe chance to shower in air conditioning was a welcome respite form the heat in June and July whcih was when we vacationed.
